Appointment Notice - Canadian Diabetes Association names new interim President and CEO

TORONTO, Feb. 8, 2013 /CNW/ -The Canadian Diabetes Association Board of Directors has announced today that Michael Cloutier, President and Chief Executive Officer, is leaving the organization to pursue other opportunities.

The Board would like to sincerely thank Mr. Cloutier for his considerable contributions to the organization and wish him the very best with his future endeavours. Since Michael joined the Association in 2010 he has led significant change and developed a solid strategic foundation that sets the Canadian Diabetes Association on a path for continued success. A search for a new President and CEO of the Association will begin immediately.

Doug Macnamara, Chair of the Canadian Diabetes Association Board of Directors will assume the role of President and CEO until a replacement is found. Mr. Macnamara is an accomplished business leader who has served on the Board of the Canadian Diabetes Association since 2010. Mr. Macnamara has more than 25 years experience in leadership, governance, executive and organizational development.

This background and knowledge of the organization will help to ensure continuity as we strive to achieve our mission of leading the fight against diabetes by helping people with diabetes live healthy lives, while we work to find a cure.  Board Secretary and Vice Chair of the Board Suzanne Deuel will now assume the role of Chair of the Board of Directors.
