OTTAWA, May 21, 2019 /CNW/ - The Honourable Marc Garneau, Minister of Transport, announced the appointment of Ms. Pascale Daigneault as the new Chairperson of The Federal Bridge Corporation Limited (FBCL) Board of Directors for a two-year term.
Ms. Daigneault has been a member of the FBCL Board of Directors since 2015. Her appointment provides stability to the strategic direction defined for the Corporation and solidifies its ability to deliver continued effective management and operational results. Her recent contributions in the establishment of FBCL's strategic planning framework and her duties as a Governance, Policy and Human Resources Committee Chairperson have suitably equipped her for this new challenge.
A resident of Sarnia, Ontario, near FBCL's Blue Water Bridge, Ms. Daigneault has an impressive résumé of experience and accomplishments. She has formerly served on several Boards including as the president of the Ontario Bar Association, director of the Canadian Bar Association, director of the Canadian Bar Insurance Association (Lawyers Financial) and is currently President of Le Réseau des Femmes du sud-ouest de l'Ontario. Ms. Daigneault has studied in engineering and holds degrees in biochemistry and law from the University of Ottawa. She currently practises at Fleck Law, a firm she co-founded, dividing her time between Sarnia and Toronto.
FBCL extends its sincere appreciation to departing Vice-Chairperson, Rick Talvitie of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, a professional civil engineer who completed more than four years with FBCL and countless others in support of the prior subsidiary, St. Mary's River Bridge Company. Mr. Talvitie served on many board committees and held the leadership of the FBCL Board of Directors since February 2019.
Also nominated to the Board of Directors are Mr. John Lopinski, CPA, CA, of Port Colbourne, Ontario and Mr. Rakesh Shreewastav, P. Eng, of Toronto, Ontario. Mr. Lopinski, appointed to a two-year term, brings significant bridge governance experience to his appointment. Mr. Shreewastav, appointed to a four-year term, is a civil engineer with experience in various Government of Ontario agencies.
The FBCL Board of Directors congratulates Ms. Daigneault, Mr. Lopinski, and Mr. Shreewastav on their appointments and appreciates the stability, objectivity and innovation that will undoubtedly result from their knowledgeable guidance.
FBCL owns, manages and operates international bridges and associated structures in Sault Ste. Marie, Point Edward, Lansdowne (Thousand Islands) and Cornwall, Ontario.
