Appointment of new co-presidents - Réseau capital continues to build momentum
MONTREAL, Dec. 10 /CNW Telbec/ - Réseau Capital is pleased to announce the appointment of its new Co-Presidents, Geneviève Morin of Fondaction CSN and Shahir Guindi of Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt. They have been appointed for a two-year mandate and will take over from Janie Béïque (Solidarity Fonds FTQ) and François Chaurette (Novacap), who made a vital contribution to the Association during their mandate, which ended at the general meeting on Thursday.
Geneviève Morin is Chief Financial and Corporate Development Officer of Fondaction, le Fonds de développement de la CSN pour la coopération et l'emploi, where she also holds the positions of Assistant to the Secretary Treasurer of the Board, Treasurer of the Board, Secretary to the Executive Committee and member of the Investment Committee. She has been a member of Réseau Capital for almost 13 years and had been its Vice-President since 2006. At Fondaction, Ms. Morin is responsible for financial statements, budgeting, asset allocation, risk management and periodic investment valuation. As the leader of a four-member team, she is also responsible for investment in specialized funds and partnership development as well as for monitoring a portfolio of publicly traded Québec companies.
According to Geneviève Morin, Co-President of Réseau Capital "Québec companies must rise to new challenges: improved productivity, global marketing, innovation financing, emergence of a new generation of managers and entrepreneurs, etc.. Investment capital is an essential component of our ability to rise to these challenges. Shahir Guindi is Managing Partner of the Montréal office of Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt LLP, a national law firm. His practice focuses on mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance and private equity/venture capital. He acts for many private equity funds in their portfolio investments, as well as for investment banks in connection with corporate finance transactions. Mr. Guindi has extensive expertise in private equity fund formation. He sits on the boards of several companies and is a member of the Québec and New York State bar associations.
According to Shahir Guindi, Co-President of Réseau Capital "Our goal will be to continue the excellent work of our predecessors, Janie Beïque and François Chaurette.
