Appointment to Canada Lands Company Limited
OTTAWA, June 23 /CNW Telbec/ - Canada's Transport Minister John Baird and Rob Merrifield, Minister of State (Transport) today announced the appointment of Mr. Grant Walsh of Burlington, Ontario, as chair of the board of directors of Canada Lands Company Limited for a term of four years.
"I am pleased Mr. Walsh has agreed to serve as chair of Canada Lands Company Limited," said Minister Merrifield. "His leadership and extensive business experience will contribute greatly to the work of the board."
"I am confident Mr. Walsh's expertise in the public, private and not-for-profit sectors will be a valuable asset to the work of the board," added Baird.
Mr. Walsh holds a master of business administration in finance and marketing from Southern Illinois University. Since 2007 he has served as chair of Walsh Delta Group, a consulting firm specializing in strategic thinking, performance improvement and talent development. From 2005 to 2007 he served as an executive-in-residence at the DeGroote School of Business at McMaster University. He is a past president of St. Peter's Health System in Hamilton and former executive vice-president of the ServiceMaster Company. Mr. Walsh has served as chair or director of numerous organizations, including Medifocus Inc., the Cleveland Clinic Canada Ltd., the Hamilton Philharmonic Orchestra and the Royal Botanical Gardens in Burlington.
Canada Lands Company Limited is a Crown corporation created by the Government of Canada. Its mandate is to ensure the commercially oriented, orderly disposition of selected surplus federal real properties with optimal financial and community values to Canadians.
