OTTAWA, April 16, 2012 /CNW/ - The Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Transport, Infrastructure and Communities, today announced the appointment of Mr. Jean-Guy Dubé of Rivière-du-Portage, New Brunswick, to the board of directors of the Belledune Port Authority for a three-year term.
"I am pleased that Mr. Dubé has agreed to serve on the Belledune Port Authority's board," said Minister Lebel. "He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in business planning, financial management and marketing that will be assets to the authority."
Mr. Dubé has a strong background in business planning and economic development. Having studied business administration at the University of Moncton, he has managed a consulting firm, served as the industrial commissioner for Kent County, and managed a national publicity agency and a national scholarship foundation. His knowledge and leadership led to his appointment as general manager of the Premier's Action Committee for the Economic Development of the Acadian Peninsula, a position he held for four years. His community work includes chairing committees at the New Brunswick Department of Training and Employment Development.
The Belledune Port Authority is the Canada Port Authority (CPA) established to manage the Port of Belledune under the Canada Marine Act. Seventeen CPAs now make up Canada's national port system. The CPAs are non-share capital corporations incorporated under the Canada Marine Act that are of strategic significance to Canada's trade. Their effective operation contributes to Canada's global competitiveness.
