OTTAWA, March 9, 2012 /CNW/ - The Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Transport, Infrastructure and Communities, today announced the appointment of Mr. Mark Wright of Thunder Bay, Ontario, to the board of directors of the Thunder Bay Port Authority for a three-year term, effective March 1, 2012.
"I am pleased that Mr. Wright has agreed to serve on the board of the Thunder Bay Port Authority," said Minister Lebel. "His knowledge and expertise in economics and strategic management will be valuable assets to the authority."
Mr. Wright holds a bachelor of human resources management from York University and a bachelor of arts (political science) from Lakehead University in Thunder Bay. He is currently pursuing a master of business administration (executive management) at the Royal Roads University in Victoria, British Columbia. Since 2008, he has been the executive director, Resource Development and Alumni, at Confederation College, where he also acts as the college liaison with business and community leaders throughout northwestern Ontario. Mr. Wright is a trustee of the Thunder Bay Community Foundation, where he chairs the Grants and Scholarships Committee.
The Thunder Bay Port Authority is the Canada Port Authority (CPA) established to manage the Port of Thunder Bay under the Canada Marine Act. Seventeen CPAs now make up Canada's national port system. The CPAs are non-share capital corporations incorporated under the Canada Marine Act and are of strategic significance to Canada's trade. Their effective operation contributes to Canada's global competitiveness as a trading nation.
