Two-year mandates for Ms. Denise Ghanam and Mr. Thomas Robert Porter
OTTAWA, June 24, 2015 /CNW/ - The Honourable Lisa Raitt, Minister of Transport, today announced the appointments of Ms. Denise Ghanam, and Mr. Thomas Robert Porter both from Windsor, Ontario, to the board of directors of the Windsor Port Authority for terms of two years.
Ms. Ghanam has been the president of Ghanam Consulting Inc. since March 2007. Over the past 14 years, she has lectured at Nipissing University, Wayne State School of Business, and University of Windsor's Odette School of Business. Prior to that, she occupied several management positions at a General Motors Trim plant over eight years. Ms. Ghanam holds a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Windsor, was granted the Certified Human Resources Leader (CHRL) designation in 2006, and is pursuing part-time doctoral studies in business at the Bristol Business School at the University of West of England. She has served in a number of volunteer roles in the community including chair of the board of governors for St Clair College and president of the Human Resources Professionals Association of Windsor.
Mr. Porter has been a lawyer at Mousseau DeLuca McPherson Prince LLP since 1980, where he became a partner in 1982. He holds a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) from the University of Windsor and was admitted to the Bar in 1980. He is a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada, the Canadian Bar Association, and the Essex Law Association. Mr. Porter has also been involved in numerous associations in his community, and was a city councillor in Windsor from 1982 to 1994. He is a director of the Windsor Squash and Fitness Club, and a member of the executive committee of the Windsor Cancer Research Group.
