April is Oral Health Month: Time to brush up
The ODA launches music video aimed at building good oral health habits among kids and teens
TORONTO, April 1, 2014 /CNW/ - April is Oral Health Month and this year the Ontario Dental Association (ODA) is launching a music video. We Be Brushin' is aimed at raising awareness among younger Ontarians about the importance of brushing and flossing in a fun and innovative way through music.
"Oral health care is a very critical part of overall health and this year we've taken a more creative approach to help children and youth build oral habits that will last them a lifetime," says Dr. Rick Caldwell, ODA President. "We're hoping to reach as many young people as possible to get them brushing up on good oral hygiene habits."
The new music video is posted on the ODA's web site youroralhealth.ca as well as the association's YouTube channel OntarioDentalAssoc. The video was originally produced by the Manitoba Dental Association and made available to the ODA through the ongoing collaboration among dental associations across the province – including the Canadian Dental Association.
In addition to the video, the ODA has a wide variety of educational and informative resources available on oral health including Your Oral Health.ca Magazine, the Canadian Dental Health Facebook page and so much more.
"My patients tell me regularly how hard it is to determine what online health-related information is credible," says Dr. Caldwell. "The ODA regularly reviews oral health-related articles and videos and makes those we feel are valuable available to the public on our website, youroralhealth.ca, and our other social media channels.
"If you have any questions about your oral health, consult the best resource of all – your dentist."
