ArcelorMittal donates more than $1 million US for victims of the Haiti
earthquake

Canadian operations contribute to relief efforts

MONTREAL , Jan. 25 /CNW/ - ArcelorMittal, through the ArcelorMittal Foundation, announces a donation of $1 million US to help the relief efforts in Port-au-Prince , Haiti .

In a first step, two days after the disaster, ArcelorMittal announced a $100,000 US donation to support emergency intervention from the organization Médecins sans Frontières (MSF) in Port-au-Prince . The donation was to help address the immediate needs of the persons affected by the earthquake.

Today the Company is increasing its aid to a total of $1 million US. This donation will be given in cash and in kind, including an offer to assist with new housing projects to rebuild Haiti . ArcelorMittal is also encouraging its employees to support other local fundraising and relief initiatives in their respective countries.

ArcelorMittal's Canadian operations, which include ArcelorMittal Long Products in Montreal , ArcelorMittal Mines of Quebec and ArcelorMittal Dofasco in Hamilton, Ontario will also be supporting the Canadian Red Cross relief efforts in Haiti .

ArcelorMittal's Canadian operations will also be supporting the relief efforts at the local level through corporate donations as well as employee-driven activities.
