- Expedia.ca along with Second City's Sandy Jobin-Bevans challenge Canadians
to smooth talk their way to Vegas-
TORONTO, Oct. 26 /CNW/ - How smooth are you? Do you use charm, quick-thinking and even flattery to talk your way out of any situation? Starting today, Expedia.ca is on a quest to find one of Canada's smoothest talkers in the Expedia.ca Smooth Talk Your Way to Vegas contest. With nine-time Canadian Comedy Awards winner and Second City's improv extraordinaire, Sandy Jobin-Bevans leading the way, Canucks will be asked to think on their feet and put their wit to test online (www.SmoothTalkToVegas.ca) for a chance to compete in a live smooth-talking showdown in fabulous Las Vegas.
" It's not about luck, it's about Canadians using their creativity to get themselves out of a funny but unexpected, and even slightly embarrassing, situation with airport security," said Sandy Jobin-Bevans, nine time winner at the Canadian Comedy Awards and alumnus of the Second City Mainstage. "The person who can explain why they have three random items in their suitcase -anything from a dog leash to a pink boa to a lifetime supply of Tupperware - the smoothest talker, wins!"
So you think you can smooth talk?
Imagine this: with tickets in hand, you think you're ready for take-off to the neon capital of the world, except what you don't know is that your friends have packed some surprises in your suitcase. Airport security is stumped. Why would you need a toilet brush, a set of dentures, and a giant cartoon map of Switzerland during your Vegas vacation? Now it is up to you to explain. What kind of tale can you weave together about these unexpected items? Should be a piece of cake for a smooth talking whiz like you, right?
Don't delay, get online today!
Starting today until November 14, the witty and smooth will need to find their way to www.SmoothTalkToVegas.ca to upload their video or written submission smooth talking an array of random items into a Vegas tale. After entries have been uploaded , participants can check back to see if they've impressed the judges enough to land a spot in the top 20.
From these 20 chosen entries, only seven will ultimately compete at a live showdown in Las Vegas in hopes of becoming one of Canada's smoothest talkers. Voters from across the country will have from November 15 until November 28, 2010 to pick their favourite submissions.
Mirror mirror on the wall, who is the smoothest of them all?
This December, the seven smoothest talking Canucks, as voted on by fellow Canadians who visit the site, will compete in a live showdown in fabulous Las Vegas! These lucky seven finalists will be flown down to Sin City by WestJet for the grand finale showdown at Planet Hollywood™ Resort & Casino. Finalists will be evaluated on creativity, originality, humour, overall appeal and Vegas content. In addition to bragging rights as one of Canada's smoothest talkers, the winner will enjoy an even more extravagant Vegas vacation for themselves and three guests who will be flown down to the neon capital immediately following the smooth-off.
Contest is open to residents of Canada 21 years of age and older (excluding Quebec). Full rules for the contest can be found at www.SmoothTalkToVegas.ca.
