Arlington announces Commercial Real Estate Deal of the year
CALGARY, May 8, 2013 /CNW/ - Arlington Street Investments ("ASI") is pleased to announce that it has been awarded the Commercial Real Estate Deal of the Year by the Exempt Market Dealers Association of Canada ("EMDA") on the financing syndication for the 8th Avenue Limited Partnership in Calgary (the "Partnership"). The EMDA awards encourage best practices, high standards of conduct and recognize exempt market business leaders who are helping build a vibrant and successful exempt capital market in Canada. The exempt market in all of Canada is well over $140 billion dollars and continues to grow as a significant source of wealth.
The 8th Avenue Limited Partnership in Calgary was created to raise investment funds that would be used to renovate, reposition and construct a new building located at 718 - 8th Avenue S.W., Calgary, Alberta. In Calgary, 8th Ave is considered one of the leading financial hubs and home to several of Western Canada's corporate head offices. More information on this project can be found at www.arlingtonstreet.ca/8th-ave-limited-partnership.
"We're extremely pleased with this award as it showcases the success of our investment strategy," stated Frank Lonardelli, President and Chief Executive Officer. "Our company was founded to serve the unique needs of our growing list of accredited investors in this market, incorporating a mandate of value investing, transparent communications, strong corporate governance and management for our investors. Through the 13 projects we've completed, ASI's track record of returns has consistently and significantly beaten all the relevant benchmarks. However, what we are most proud of is the fact that we have never lost a dollar of our or our valued investment partners' invested equity."
Nominees for the EMDA's Exempt Market Deals of the Year were evaluated based on their leadership in the industry, contribution to the deal, market innovation, impact, and the benefits of the deal for the issuer and for investors. The award selection committee was comprised of independent members of the EMDA Board of Directors.
David Gilkes, EMDA Vice-Chair stated: "The EMDA believes it is time to start celebrating the success stories of the exempt market and honouring the leaders driving those successes. EMDA awards winners are helping to: (a) finance entrepreneurs and innovators, (b) develop and grow emerging businesses and (c) create successful alternative exempt market investment opportunities for Canadians. Capital raised in the exempt market helps finance economic activity across Canada and is an important contributor to creating wealth and fueling our economy. The EMDA Awards celebrate excellence and showcase examples of leadership in Canada's exempt market."
