Armistice Resources Announces Processing of its Gold-Bearing Ore Has Begun at QMX Facilities
- Completion of internal tailings pond dam at QMX's facilities enables processing to begin of Armistice's ore from the McGarry Gold Mine
- Shipments of first 10,000 tonnes for processing continuing to be followed by further deliveries of 5,000-tonnes batches
TORONTO, Aug. 19, 2013 /CNW/ - Armistice Resources Corp. (TSX: AZ), operator of the McGarry gold mine in Ontario's Kirkland Lake area, today announced that processing of its gold-bearing ore has begun at QMX Gold Corporation's (TSX: QMX) facilities in Val-d'Or Township, Quebec.
On June 14, 2013, Armistice announced that it had signed a custom milling agreement for the processing of ore from its McGarry Mine at QMX's facilities and that the initial shipment by Armistice would be 10,000 tonnes, including mostly development ore, stockpiled at the McGarry.
"Construction of the internal tailings pond at QMX's facilities is completed and processing of our ore has commenced," said Todd J. Morgan, chief executive officer and president of Armistice. "As the first material being processed has a high proportion of development ore, it is normal that the grade should be significantly below what we expect to realize from future production stope ore due to normal dilution in development headings.
"The initial processing has gone well and we expect to be in position to begin selling gold this month. We are continuing shipments of ore from the McGarry Mine to the QMX facilities to meet the first commitment of 10,000 tonnes. Following this, we will continue to ship 5,000 tonnes batches," Mr. Morgan said.
As previously announced, the processing agreement with QMX is for a term of at least one year and a minimum of 30,000 tonnes of ore to be delivered by Armistice. The initial shipment by Armistice will be 10,000 tonnes of ore, followed by batches of 5,000 tonnes. The milling agreement calls for QMX to provide for all the necessary handling, sampling, crushing, grinding, processing, refining, and tailings disposal.
