TORONTO, April 27, 2015 /CNW/ -- Arup, a multidisciplinary engineering and consulting firm with a reputation for delivering innovative and sustainable designs, today announced its region-wide promotions. The Americas Region board, which oversees operations in the United States, Canada, and Brazil, selects new associates and associate principals on an annual basis. The 31 promotions throughout the region include Zoran Markovic, PEng, to the position of associate principal and Robert Feteanu, PE, to the position of associate in the firm's Toronto office.

Zoran Markovic, PEng, is an electrical engineer in Arup's Toronto office as well as the Electrical Discipline Leader. Zoran received a bachelor's and a master's in electrical engineering from the University of Belgrade. With over 14 years of experience, he has extensive understanding of the construction industry and commercial trends on built environment projects ranging from renovations to large multibillion-dollar developments. He has significant experience with the variety of project delivery systems — P3, IPD, design-build, CM lead, and design-bid-build — and in sustainable and green design. Zoran's particular skills include developing and leading multidisciplinary design teams providing diverse engineering and project management services. Zoran's clients come from institutional, commercial, and industrial markets including health care, educational and laboratory, office-space/convention center, courthouse, residential, industrial, pharmaceutical facilities, and infrastructure. Some of Zoran's recent projects include York University New Engineering Building and Eglinton Crosstown LRT in Toronto, Ontario, and the Calgary Cancer Centre in Alberta.
Robert Feteanu, PE, is an aerospace engineer and airport analyst in Arup's Toronto office. Before joining Arup in 2005, Robert received a bachelor's in aerospace engineering from Polytechnic University in Bucharest and a master's in mechanical engineering from Ryerson University. He has been involved in challenging and technically complex projects requiring a high degree of accuracy in Canada, the United States, the Middle East, the Caribbean region, South America, and Europe. Robert has a particular interest in the research and development of various statistical, optimization, and simulation tools that benefit the aviation industry. He was the lead analyst and project manager for passenger flow simulations and space programming for the new Midfield Terminal Complex at Abu Dhabi Airport in the United Arab Emirates and Hamad International Airport in Doha, Qatar. He also assisted with the analysis and development of airport projects such as Boston-Logan, Washington-Dulles, Toronto-Pearson, and JetBlue Terminal 5 at JFK International Airport.
