ASC reciprocates bans against Beryl Henderson
CALGARY, Feb. 14, 2014 /CNW/ - The Alberta Securities Commission (ASC) has reciprocated bans the Ontario Securities Commission (OSC) imposed against Beryl Henderson.
An ASC panel ordered that Henderson:
- must cease trading in or purchasing securities permanently (subject to specified exceptions if she makes full restitution to her victims);
- is permanently banned from using any exemptions contained in Alberta securities laws; and
- is permanently prohibited from becoming or acting as a director or officer of any issuer, registrant or investment fund manager, or becoming or acting as a registrant, investment fund manager or promoter.
In an August 2013 settlement agreement with the OSC, Henderson acknowledged that she illegally sold at least $474,000 in securities of Go Sports Entertainment Inc., a Nevada corporation, and engaged in related fraudulent conduct. Henderson had also pleaded guilty to related criminal charges.
A copy of the decision is available on the ASC website at www.albertasecurities.com.
The ASC is the regulatory agency responsible for administering the province's securities laws. It is entrusted to foster a fair and efficient capital market in Alberta and to protect investors. As a member of the Canadian Securities Administrators, the ASC works to improve, coordinate and harmonize the regulation of Canada's capital markets.
