The hockey player and advocate for diabetes awareness has signed on to work with the organization for the next three years
TORONTO, June 13, 2016 /CNW/ - Today, Ascensia Diabetes Care Canada Inc. announced a partnership renewal with NHL hockey player and diabetes advocate, Max Domi. The agreement between the organization and 21-year old will include working together to share information on diabetes management, an illness that affects nearly 3 million Canadians and will affect an estimated one in three people by 2020.1
"We are thrilled to continue our relationship with Max Domi, says Russ Newsome, Region Head of North America, Ascensia Diabetes Care. "Max's story is an inspirational one. Together, we want to help others by providing high quality products and service solutions, along with an understanding of how they too can live successfully with diabetes, better manage their daily routine and still lead extraordinary lives."
Domi passionately supports and shares his message with others. Diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes at the age of 12 Domi regularly works with young people with diabetes to discuss his own lifestyle and how he manages diabetes as a high performance athlete.
Part of Domi's work with Ascensia will be engaging his fans directly through various awareness events like Diabetes Awareness Month, offering Canadian fans the opportunity to ask him questions about living with diabetes . Domi and Ascensia Diabetes Care have already worked together for the past year to encourage Canadians with diabetes to follow their dreams.
"When I was diagnosed with diabetes it changed my life. But, I didn't let it stop me and I want others to know that you can still lead a great life if you have diabetes and still achieve your goals," says Max Domi. "I'm looking forward to working with Ascensia Diabetes Care to share my story, help others and change some of the common stereotypes about the disease."
