Two new "M"-series models of this novel compact MRI platform enable wide variety of pre-clinical imaging applications and models
SAVANNAH, GA, Sept. 18, 2013 /CNW/ - Aspect Imaging, the world leading developer of compact high-performance MRI systems, today launched a complete line of compact MRI systems for a wide variety of pre-clinical applications. The three "M"-series compact MRI systems include the M10, a new compact MRI model for pre-clinical imaging of larger species and the M3, a new compact MRI model for imaging of mice for phenotypic research. The 2 new models complement the 3D MR-based Histology system for toxicology research as well as the current M2 platform, which is being used in the Bruker ICON™ compact MRI system, a leading compact MRI system for mouse and rat-based pre-clinical research and drug development. The launch is taking place at the WMIC (World Molecular Imaging Congress) 2013 Annual Meeting, being held September 18 - 21, 2013 in Savannah, GA.
"We are thrilled to launch our new M10 and M3 compact, high-performance MRI systems for pre-clinical research this week", says Uri Rapoport, Aspect Imaging's Founder and CEO. "WMIC's annual conference is where the leading molecular imaging experts come to see the latest in solutions and Aspect Imaging's M2 system, the most pervasive compact MRI system in the market, is now further complemented by two other "M"-series models. These include the M10 for imaging larger species as well as the M3 model which is perfectly suited for the researcher interested exclusively in mouse models of research".
The Aspect Imaging compact MRI platform, unlike conventional superconducting MRI systems, does not require a shielded room, cryogens, specialty plumbing or high-capacity electrical power. The "M"-series platform features an innovative self-shielded, permanent magnet that can be placed in most settings as it does not require special infrastructure. As such, it provides the researcher or core imaging facility manager with the power of MRI but at a fraction of the cost and without the complexity and ongoing maintenance of superconducting and cryogen-free MRI installations.
The three "M"-series compact MRI systems will be on display in Aspect Imaging's booth #422 at the WMIC Exhibition Hall at the Savannah International Trade and Convention Center in Savannah, GA from September 18 - 21, 2013. As an illustration of the ease of installation and placement of the Aspect MRI platform, a live ICON compact high-performance MRI system (powered by the Aspect Imaging M2 platform) will also be demonstrating pre-clinical phenotyping in the Bruker booth (#421).
About Aspect Imaging:
Aspect Imaging (www.aspectimaging.com) is the world's leader in the design and development of high-performance compact MR imaging and NMR systems for pre-clinical, clinical and advanced industrial applications. In the clinical market, Aspect Imaging has multiple clinical programs underway including its system to provide highly efficient just-in-place compact MRI for imaging of the wrist. The system allows clinicians to harness the power and insights of MRI but without the cost, complexity and technical burden of traditional MRI systems. In the pre-clinical research market, the M-series of compact MRI systems, including the M3 and M10 systems enable a wide variety of in vivo applications and research models. Aspect also supplies its M2™ magnet, gradients and handling systems to Bruker for use in its leading ICON™ compact MRI platform. Due to its high-performance M2 permanent magnet and suite of related products, the ICON enables academic researchers and pharmaceutical companies to harness the power and insights of MRI but without the cost, complexity and technical burden of traditional MRI systems. Pre-clinically, Aspect's M2 system is also used for providing 3D MR-based Histology to complement and direct pathology and histology-based analysis, as well as providing the M2 platform to Mediso Medical Systems for use in its nanoScan® integrated PET/MRI and SPECT/MRI systems. Aspect Imaging's novel permanent magnets are also used in advanced industrial applications including rheology where its FlowScan™ platform can operate in-line, on-line or near-line on large-scale production lines for food processing, consumer products, oil and gas, biofuels and other applications providing real-time, non-invasive and quantitative read-outs for process and quality control.
