Hill in Show of Unity for Action on First Nations Education
OTTAWA, Sept. 22 /CNW/ - Assembly of First Nations National Chief Shawn A-in-chut Atleo will join First Nations leaders, citizens and supporters on Victoria Island to welcome a group that walked approximately 130 kilometers from Kitigan Zibi Anishinabeg to Ottawa, Ontario in support of action on First Nations education. They will be joined by First Nations and supporters for a march to Parliament Hill to attend a rally and cultural celebration that begins at 1 pm Ottawa (eastern) time.

Speakers include: AFN National Chief Shawn-A-in-chut Atleo, Chief Gilbert Whiteduck (Kitigan Zibi Anishnabeg), Caitlin Tolley (Kitigan Zibi Anishnabeg, Walk Participant and AFN Youth Council member), AFN Ontario Regional Chief Angus Toulouse, Ashley Julian (Co-Chair AFN Youth Council) and AFN Quebec-Labrador Regional Chief Ghislain Picard. | ||

Note: all times are Ottawa (eastern) time.
The walk was an initiative of the Kitigan Zibi Education Sector in conjunction with students and Kitigan Zibi Anishinabeg community members. Marchers started the walk on Sunday, September 19 and walked 35 - 40 kilometers each day towards Ottawa.
