WHITEHOUSE, YK, July 22, 2016 /CNW/ - Assembly of First Nations National Chief Perry Bellegarde has issued the following statement in learning of the untimely passing of Mike Pinay of Peepeekisis First Nation (Saskatchewan):
"Mike Pinay committed his entire life to the advancement of First Nations peoples. Not only was Mike deeply respected for his heartfelt dedication to family and community, but also for the support that he gave to Sundance lodges throughout the treaty territories of Saskatchewan. He was a loving and dedicated grandfather, and a lifelong advocate for keeping the fire of our traditions alive. For this, I uphold him. I wish to extend my deepest condolences to his family at this difficult time. Mike will live on in our hearts."
