This year's AGA in Halifax runs from July 15-17 and will feature discussion on key topics as well as a number of special events being coordinated by Regional Chief Googoo and the local Host Committee. At the AGA itself, First Nations will gather to determine the timing of an election for National Chief and to strategize and develop action plans in a number of priority areas, including First Nation education, sustainable natural resource development, non-insured health benefits, protecting and advancing rights, justice and community safety.
On Thursday, Interim AFN Regional Chief Battiste will announce the theme of this year's AGA and provide details on special events and highlights. AFN Regional Chief Morley Googoo is currently on temporary leave for health reasons.
