Associated Producers' acclaimed documentary series The Naked Archaeologist
returns for a third season on Vision TV, Monday March 22
TORONTO, March 10 /CNW/ - The Naked Archaeologist, 2009 winner of the Special Jury Prize from the Archaeological Film Festival in Brussels, returns to VisionTV for an exciting third season.
Hosted by amateur archaeologist, enthusiast and award-winning investigative filmmaker Simcha Jacobovici, The Naked Archaeologist is an irreverent, entertaining and eye-opening journey into the archaeology of the ancient world. Along the way, new discoveries are made, lost treasures revealed and ancient mysteries uncovered.
Season three of The Naked Archaeologist premieres on VisionTV with special back-to-back episodes airing on Monday March 22 at 10 p.m. ET /7 p.m. PT.
Beginning on Monday, March 29, The Naked Archaeologist will air weekly in its regular time slot at 10:30 pm ET / 7:30 pm PT.
"When we first started The Naked Archaeologist, we were told that fun, history and the Bible don't mix," says producer and host Simcha Jacobovici. "Now, in our third season, I think we've proven the naysayers wrong."
Once again, The Naked Archaeologist solves Biblical mysteries such as: if Jesus was a carpenter, why were all his followers fishermen? Why would the Hebrew matriarch Rachel trade a night of sex with her husband for a bunch of mandrakes from her archrival Leah? And was the Biblical Lilith an early feminist or a naked, winged, taloned, baby-snatching, wet-dream-causing demon?
Unafraid to challenge widely held beliefs, our intrepid archaeological detective wrestles ancient rocks, challenges experts, debates with unsuspecting passers-by, climbs mountains and jumps fences to get to the truth.
At every step, The Naked Archaeologist plays Jack the Giant Killer in his quest to get past the jargon and down to the bare bones of Biblical archaeology.
The 13-part series was filmed in present-day Israel, Jordan and Egypt - the very cradle of Western civilization. Season three also takes The Naked Archaeologist to the UK, Turkey, Greece and Italy. Each archaeological mystery is investigated on site, and famous Biblical and historical tales are illustrated through the playful use of location photography, archival footage and digital animation.
The Naked Archaeologist is produced by Leslie Fruman, Betty Orr and Simcha Jacobovici. Joan Jenkinson is the Executive Producer for VisionTV.
