Association of Employees of Northern Quebec (AENQ) Congress - An Elected Team to Require a Moratorium from Cree School Board Français
MONTREAL, April 14, 2013 /CNW Telbec/ - At the last triennial Congress of the Association of employees of Northern Quebec (AENQ) held at the end of March, the electoral process did allow participants to renew the confidence toward the Executive committee members and to set the priorities for the next three years.
President D'Astous have been re-elected for a fourth time and the Vice-president Larry Imbeault for a sixth time. François Beauchemin will remain Sector Director for the Kativik School Board (KSB) teachers and Tarek Khazen for the Cree School Board (CSB) teachers. Finally, a newcomer, Mr Vincent Renaud will join the team having been elected as Sector Director for the Kativik School Board support staff.
Very clear priorities
Strengthen by this renwed confidence, the executive committee will continue to work on the Association priority files.
A very strong mandate was given by the Congress to require a Moratorium from the CSB on the implementation of the Guaranteed and viable curriculums (GVC) at the secondary level as well as the rest of the items included in its 2011-2015 Action Plan until the major flaws and problems identified in it will be settle to the satisfaction of the teachers.
Also, pressure should be maintain on the KSB until an adapted School Calender that respect the geographical and sociocultural realities of the Nunavik is put in place. And AENQ will continue to put in priority the work to do to force Revenu Québec to respect its legal obligations regarding the taxation level of the housing that KSB provide to its employees.
Of course, AENQ will put forward all the important files of Northern Quebec employees such as special need student services; specific measures in order to retain, train and attract qualified personnel.
