Astral to hold a coast-to-coast radiothon for sick kids on april 29
MONTREAL, March 29 /CNW Telbec/ - Astral Media Inc. (TSX: ACM.A/ACM.B) today announced the second edition of Astral Media's National Day of Caring for Kids Radiothon, which will be held on Thursday, April 29 from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. (local times).
This activity will be broadcast by over 50 English-language radio stations in 30 cities in support of some 20 large children's hospitals and kids health care facilities across the country. Last year, this event raised over 7.1 million dollars in twelve hours.
"This coast-to-coast radiothon vividly demonstrates Astral and its radio stations' commitment to the communities that they serve across the country by helping improve care given to thousands of sick children and ensure that doctors and nurses who care for them have access to the best equipment available," stated Jacques Parisien, Group President, Astral Media Radio and Astral Media Outdoor. "Over 1000 Astral Media employees from across the country and from all our divisions are contributing in their own special way to help organize this event and they join me in calling wholeheartedly on all Canadians to give what they can to help sick kids and their families."
As of today, Astral will air a multi-platform ad campaign to raise awareness among the population about the radiothon and encourage Canadians to give generously to the sick children's hospital in their region. Created by the advertising agency BOS, this campaign will run until April 29 and air on many Astral radio stations and television services, as well as be featured on its outdoor advertising network and on banners on most of its websites.
Again this year, the radio stations will team up with the Children's Miracle Network, an international non-profit organization dedicated to saving and improving the lives of sick children by raising funds for children's hospitals and health foundations. Each year, in collaboration with 14 Canadian children's hospitals, Children's Miracle Network helps medical and nursing professionals provide better care and gives them access to the most technologically advanced medical equipment by funding research and offering preventive training.
