AT Films Inc. in Strike and Lockout - Talks Continue
EDMONTON, July 17, 2015 /CNW/ - AT Films Inc. announced today that Unifor, Local 21-A issued a strike notice on Monday, July 13, 2015 to take effect on Thursday, July 16, 2015 at 3 p.m. at its manufacturing plant and facilities located at 4405 and 4605 - 101st Avenue, Edmonton. In response to the union's strike notice, the Company issued a lockout notice effective at the same time and place. Unifor went on strike on July 16, 2015 at 3 p.m. and a lockout commenced in response.
AT Films Inc. researches, designs and manufactures polythene films products for the horticultural, agricultural and construction markets. The Company's horticultural, industrial, agricultural films have gained global respect and recognition for their advanced innovative technology, durability, performance and value. AT Films Inc. is the first Canadian company to join a prestigious group of six operating businesses within British Polythene Industries PLC Group of companies. AT Films Inc. operates a head office and manufacturing facilities in Edmonton and a conversion site located in Westlock, Alberta. The Westlock bargaining unit is a separate unit and they are not on strike or locked out. The Edmonton location has 67 employees, 48 of whom are in the bargaining unit represented by Unifor, Local 21-A. The Edmonton bargaining unit went on strike and a lockout commenced on July 16, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. The work stoppage will not affect AT Films' services and deliveries to customers.

The Company has offered wage increases in every year of the new contract that are very fair and competitive in the current Alberta economic climate. We continue talks with the Union, and we are confident that we can reach a resolution for a new collective agreement that is mutually beneficial."
