ATB Investment Management Inc. earns four Fundata FundGrade™A+ awards
EDMONTON, Feb. 1, 2018 /CNW/ - ATB Investment Management Inc. is honoured to receive four of Fundata's annual FundGrade™A+ awards, which are presented to investment funds that have consistently achieved superior performance in their Canadian Investment Funds Standards Committee (CIFSC) category over the year. ATB's Compass Conservative, Conservative Balanced, Balanced and Balanced Growth portfolios all earned A+ status from Fundata for 2017.
"The objectivity of the Fundata awards is what gives this recognition meaning," said Chris Turchansky, president of ATB Investor Services. "Based solely on the performance of the funds, these awards demonstrate that our approach to investing is steadfast, strategic and purposeful."
Achieving a FundGrade™A+ rating puts ATB Investment Management Inc.'s Compass portfolios in an exclusive group. Less than four per cent of the investment fund products available in Canada have received a FundGrade™A+ rating, the highest rating a fund can achieve. Since its debut in 2013, the award has become a highly-prized achievement in the Canadian investment funds industry.
"Throughout 2017, we've seen markets trend upward and Alberta's economy continues to recover, but uncertainties still linger over the market. Compass investors are less impacted by events that occur on our national soil, given the global approach we take for our investors," said Turchansky. "Our commitment to do what's right for investors by focusing on protecting wealth and investing responsibly, is integral to why we've consistently been awarded the FundGrade™A+ rating."
ATB Investor Services continues to work to make investing work for Albertans. There's been continued success from our innovative ATB Prosper platform, which allows investors to start an online investment portfolio in minutes.
"It's important to focus on the things under our control and to ensure we have strategies to manage the things outside of our control," added Turchansky. "Discipline is difficult in both times of uncertainty and exuberance, but investors who adhere to an investment plan and remain focused on the long term will be duly rewarded. Advisors play a key role in helping investors maintain their discipline to stick to their plan."

Disclosure:
The FundGrade A+ rating is awarded annually and identifies funds that exhibit both the best risk-adjusted returns, as measured by a number of risk-adjusted performance ratios, as well as the highest level of performance consistency over the course of an entire calendar year.
FundGrade A+® is used with permission from Fundata Canada Inc., all rights reserved. The annual FundGrade A+® Awards are presented by Fundata Canada Inc. to recognize the “best of the best” among Canadian investment funds. The FundGrade A+® calculation is supplemental to the monthly FundGrade ratings and is calculated at the end of each calendar year. The FundGrade rating system evaluates funds based on their risk-adjusted performance, measured by Sharpe Ratio, Sortino Ratio, and Information Ratio. The score for each ratio is calculated individually, covering all time periods from 2 to 10 years. The scores are then weighted equally in calculating a monthly FundGrade. The top 10% of funds earn an A Grade; the next 20% of funds earn a B Grade; the next 40% of funds earn a C Grade; the next 20% of funds receive a D Grade; and the lowest 10% of funds receive an E Grade. To be eligible, a fund must have received a FundGrade rating every month in the previous year. The FundGrade A+® uses a GPA-style calculation, where each monthly FundGrade from “A” to “E” receives a score from 4 to 0, respectively. A fund’s average score for the year determines its GPA. Any fund with a GPA of 3.5 or greater is awarded a FundGrade A+® Award. For more information, see www.FundGradeAwards.com.
