EDMONTON, Nov. 1, 2017 /CNW/ - Today, ATB Financial becomes the first regional financial institution in Canada to put the convenience of Samsung Pay into the hands of its customers.
"Our commitment is to make banking work for people, and we know that in the payments space, the only way to pay is to have many ways to pay," says ATB Chief Transformation Officer Wellington Holbrook.
"I'm excited to continue to deliver on that commitment by enhancing our existing mobile wallet offering through the addition of Samsung Pay. This gives our customers access to digital payments, regardless of the device they use."
The features of Samsung Pay make payment so seamless that customers can feel comfortable leaving their wallets at home.
They can use Samsung Pay at both tap and non-tap merchant payment terminals with their ATB Mastercards and debit cards. While using Samsung Pay, customers will continue to receive all of the rewards and benefits offered by their ATB Mastercards.
In addition, customers can load their loyalty cards directly into the wallet, with common cards already pre-loaded.
Samsung Pay is easy to set up and is designed to protect customers' personal information. Debit and Mastercard numbers are never stored on customer devices and their card numbers are never sent to merchants.
"We are happy to offer our simple, safe and convenient digital wallet solution, Samsung Pay, to ATB customers," said Paul Brannen, COO and Executive Vice President of Samsung Electronics Canada.
Samsung Pay is available exclusively through the Samsung Galaxy Apps Store and is supported by the Galaxy Note8; Galaxy S8 and S8+; Galaxy S7 and S7 edge; Galaxy S6, S6 edge, and S6 edge+; Galaxy Note5 and Galaxy A5.
