QUÉBEC, Dec. 11, 2014 /CNW Telbec/ - The Québec City Winter World Masters Games will attract hundreds of athletes from around the world January 31 to February 8, 2015. Of the 750 participants registered so far in one of 9 official sports, more than 500 are from outside Canada. These participants will travel high and low to compete in the Québec City Masters Games. They will come from Australia, Japan, Russia, Finland, Italy, Germany, Serbia, Slovakia, South Africa, France and the United States.
This international winter competition will play a major role in the region's tourism industry. Close to 70% of the economic impact of these sport travelers will be new money injected mostly in the accommodation and catering sectors. Furthermore, a number of participants will extend their stay in the Québec region beyond the 8 days of the Masters Games.
The Masters Games will be held in the festive atmosphere of the Québec Winter Carnival. Participants will keep an imperishable memory of their stay in Québec City and will surely fall in love with the destination.
About the Winter World Masters Games
More than 20 countries will be represented during the Winter World Masters Games in Québec City January 31 to February 8, 2015. Sports on the program include are alpine skiing, biathlon, cross country skiing, curling, ice hockey, long track skating, marathon skating, short track skating, triathlon, snowshoeing (demo sport). Organized by International Masters Games Association (IMGA), the Winter Masters Games will be held for the second time, the first were held in Bled in 2010. The Summer Masters Games are held every four years since 1985.
