MONTRÉAL, Oct. 19, 2017 /CNW/ - ATPI Sports Events, part of the ATPI Group, has strengthened its position in the Canadian market with four senior additions to its management team.
The recruitment drive follows the Canadian Olympic Committee's (COC) selection of one of the leading global travel management and events companies as its official ticketing and hospitality services partner in February this year for the next four Olympic Games.
Travel industry expert Mathieu Marois will head up the expanded team as general manager joining from Vision Travel, where he developed its business within the corporate and school travel markets. With 26 years of experience in leisure, sports and hospitality travel, Marois will be responsible for increasing ATPI Sports Events presence within Canada and delivering its ambitious growth plans.
With ATPI Sports Events responsibility for arranging travel for Team Canada athletes and officials up to the 2024 Olympic Games, Sarah Paterson was appointed Head of National Olympic Committee (NOC) and Sports Relations. She previously spent over three years managing the relationships between the Rio 2016 Olympic Organising Committee and over 60 NOCs in the regions of Asia and Oceania. This is in addition to two years collaborating with NOCs in the build-up to London 2012. Paterson's Olympic & Sports specific experience will be invaluable in tailoring ATPI Sports Events' programs to sports organisations.
Kevin Perrin also joined the team this summer as Head of Commercial Relations, bringing over 17 years' relationship-building and contract negotiation experience within the travel industry to the specialist team. His understanding of complex corporate travel requirements will further cement ATPI Sports Events' position as delivering market leading service to global sports events.
To further maximise travel trade opportunities, Nada Di Valerio was engaged as Travel Manager. With over 20 years' experience of managing complex travel programmes and handling group requests, Nada is well placed to help the travel agency sector deliver the best packages to customers in the build up to the XXIII Olympic Winter Games Korea, and beyond.
Helen van Berkel, Managing Director Sports & Corporate Events, the ATPI Group said:
"Given our reputation for delivering world-class service and with a stream of high-profile sports events coming up, we're delighted to have attracted such talent to support key areas of the business. Under Mathieu's leadership we are confident that ATPI Sports Events will now be even better placed to build on our long-standing relationships with sporting brands over the coming years. For now, we look forward to helping even more Canadians cheer the national team onto victory next February at the 2018 Winter Olympics."
