WHISTLER, BC, March 13 /CNW/ - Spectators planning on attending Paralympic alpine events March 14-21 are recommended to check vancouver2010.com to confirm the start time of their event, as the event start times have changed as part of schedule adjustments made today. Some events may start as much as 90 minutes earlier and others as much as 30-90 minutes later than originally scheduled. The adjusted event start times may be found on the home page of vancouver2010.com under the tabs "Schedules & Results" and "Latest News".
Earlier today VANOC announced that as a result of current and forecasted weather through the 2010 Paralympic Winter Games, the Vancouver Organizing Committee for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games (VANOC) and the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) have adjusted the alpine competition event schedule at Whistler Creekside. Tickets remain valid for the date for which they were purchased. Race directors have adjusted the race schedule to best align with the forecasted weather for the coming week. Technical events such as slalom and GS can tolerate the lower visibility weather conditions currently forecast for the early part of this week, whereas the speed events such as downhill and Super G require colder, clearer weather forecast for later in the week.
Tickets are still available for all alpine events including the new event on March 17th and can be purchased at vancouver2010.com, any ticket box office or by phone at 1-800-TICKETS (1-800-842-5387).
