OTTAWA, Oct. 14, 2015 /CNW/ - Norma Biln, Chief Executive Officer of Vancouver's Augurex Life Sciences Corp. was elected Chair of BioTalent Canada's Board of Directors at the organization's Board meeting of September 21. The organization, a non-profit human resource organization for Canada's bio-economy, works with its Corporate Partners and national and provincial biotechnology Member Associations to ensure Canada's biotech businesses have access to the most skilled talent available.
Prior to her role as CEO of Augurex, Ms. Biln began her career in clinical research with Pfizer Canada after completing her Bachelor of Science in Physiology at McGill University. She held senior positions with Pfizer Canada , Amgen Canada and Abbott Laboratories where she won several regional and national level awards for top performance. She later joined Stressgen Biotechnologies as Director of Corporate Market Development and then as Director of Sales and Marketing. She also held a senior consulting capacity with Aspreva Pharmaceuticals on business development, commercial and communications initiatives and holds a Master of Business Administration degree.

Ms. Biln succeeds François Schubert, who recently retired as General Manager & COO of the Research Institute of McGill University's Health Centre in Montreal and was recently named to the Order of Canada for his career contribution.
Ms. Biln hopes that she can continue to lead the organization in conducting work that is crucial to Canada's bio-economy. "Even before science, it's the human factor that drives innovation," she said. "Biotech businesses need to attract and retain top talent in order to thrive and succeed.
