100% electric one-way carsharing is only a few clicks away
MONTREAL, July 4, 2013 /CNW Telbec/ - Auto-mobile is now open to everyone who wishes to use the 100% electric one-way carsharing service for their trips from point A to B. It is even available to those who don't wish to become users of Communauto's regular service. This new membership is free, quick and easy. A few clicks, an OPUS card and a driver's license are sufficient to register.
"In the first stage, the service was only available to Communauto members. Opening up the service to everyone will allow them to discover carsharing and hopefully realize that you don't need to own a car to get around efficiently. All the elements are in place to make it possible: public transportation, taxis, carsharing, bike-sharing and now Auto-mobile," said Benoît Robert, CEO of Communauto.
The service available on the Plateau-Mont-Royal borough was recently improved by the arrival of a universal parking permit allowing carsharing users to park Auto-mobile vehicles in the residents-only reserved zones of the borough. Trips must always start and end on the Plateau-Mont-Royal.
In addition, no deposit is required upon subscribing, contrary to what was announced previously. The usual Communauto credit criteria apply.
Auto-mobile: How does it work?
The online registration is quick and easy, no need to send or receive anything. In only a few hours (maximum one working day) new users can enjoy Auto-mobile.
Once registered, people can use the vehicles immediately by passing their OPUS card in front of the reader located under the windshield. No need for keys! You can also search for the nearest vehicles using the mobile app available on the App Store or the Internet. This allows people to block the vehicle for a few minutes in order to reach it. The rates are $0.38 /minute, $12 /hour and $50 /day.
All information about the service and membership is available at www.communauto.com/auto-mobile.
