The Aveda Network Seeks to Raise $3.5 Million during Earth Month for Clean Water Rights
TORONTO, April 19 /CNW/ - One in seven people around the world do not have access to clean water.(1) Throughout the month of April, Aveda's 2010 Earth Month campaign will unite its network professionals and guests to raise $3.5 million to protect clean water. Aveda Earth Month 2010 calls for action to empower communities and help make clean water accessible to everyone - everywhere. Having celebrated Earth Day since the Company's founding, the activist-based brand pioneered Earth Month in April 1999, which has since raised over $14.2 million for environmental causes. Aveda's 2010 Earth Month projects include:
AVEDA WALK FOR WATER
During the week of April 22, 2010 the Aveda network will participate in a global initiative that acknowledges the daily struggle of more than one billion people around the world who do not have access to clean water.(2) Canadian campaigns have resulted in over $500,000 raised and engaged more than 2,000 walkers across 15 cities. The fourth annual Aveda Walk for Water campaign in Canada:
- Unites the Company's network and guests in a series of walks to raise awareness and funds to protect clean water. - Is executed across Canada in multiple cities by Aveda salons and spas. - Will extend six kilometers - the average distance that women in developing countries walk to collect water each day. - Supports WaterCan, our Ottawa-based fundraising partner. - Features Ray Civello, Aveda Canada CEO, at the Vancouver walk. - Features special guest Margaret Trudeau, WaterCan Honorary President, at the Toronto walk.
