Avison Young opens new office in Moncton, New Brunswick
Leading industry professional Gary Brown becomes a Senior Vice-President, four members join
TORONTO, Feb. 6, 2015 /CNW/ - Mark E. Rose, Chair and CEO of Avison Young, the world's fastest-growing commercial real estate services firm, announced today the opening of a new office in Moncton, New Brunswick to expand the company's market presence in Atlantic Canada.
The newest Canadian office represents Avison Young's second location in the Maritimes, 16th office in Canada, 60th office in North America, and an additional step in the firm's ongoing aggressive growth strategy.
Over the past six years, Avison Young has grown from 11 to, now, 64 offices in 55 markets, and from 300 to more than 1,700 real estate professionals in Canada, the U.S. and Europe.
Effective immediately, four members join the new Moncton office. Gary Brown, a leading industry professional with 12 years of commercial real estate experience, will serve as a Senior Vice-President in Moncton and oversee the office's day-to-day operations. In addition, he will assist clients with investment sales transactions. He most recently served as an investment sales specialist with Cushman & Wakefield in Moncton.
Also joining Avison Young in Moncton are Sean Power, Greg Keough and Julie LeBlanc as sales representatives. Power also comes from Cushman & Wakefield, where he served as an investment sales representative in Moncton. He will continue to focus on investment sales while working in tandem with Gary Brown. Real estate professional Keough joins Avison Young with eight years of commercial sales and leasing experience in Moncton, specializing in property and construction management. Along with LeBlanc, who is new to the industry, they will focus on landlord and tenant representation.
Michael Brown, Managing Director of Avison Young's Halifax office, will also serve as Managing Director of the new Moncton office.
"We are pleased to welcome Gary and his team as the newest members of our organization in the Maritimes," comments Rose. "Their arrival, in conjunction with the opening of our new Moncton office, extends our geographic coverage in Atlantic Canada, enhancing our client services platform in the region and offering our national clients the benefit of Gary's years of experience. Integrating with our service-line experts across the Maritimes and the country, Gary and his team will work collaboratively to provide optimized solutions for clients' real estate requirements."
During his real estate career, Gary Brown has negotiated several million dollars worth of investment sales and leasing transactions in Moncton. Including his tenure in the industry, he has more than 30 years of overall business experience. Prior to entering the commercial real estate sector, he successfully co-owned and operated an international architectural and aluminum systems company. In less than two years, the firm achieved prodigious sales increases, resulting in the opening of a sister company and the hiring of an additional 200 employees.
"Gary Brown is a highly respected member of the commercial real estate community in Atlantic Canada, and we are excited to have him join our firm as a senior leader in the region," adds Mark Fieder, Avison Young Principal and Managing Director, Eastern Canada. "Working with Michael Brown and our professionals across Canada, Gary and his team in Moncton will help bring our clients an ever-expanding range of services and the expertise required to assess their needs and achieve their goals."
Avison Young opened its first office in the Maritimes in Halifax in 2006.
"The opening of a new office and acquisition of new staff in the greater Moncton area will enable us to provide our clients with full-service commercial leasing and sales services, along with property management services throughout Atlantic Canada," notes Michael Brown. "Moncton is a key hub city. It is also one of the fastest-growing cities in the Maritimes, benefitting from an ongoing migration of the Francophone community from northern New Brunswick heading south and seeking employment opportunities."
Effective immediately, Avison Young's new Moncton office is centrally located at 653 St. George Boulevard, in the former General Motors building.
"Given Moncton's distinctive growth, joining forces with other local, accomplished associates while being guided by Avison Young's Principal-led, collaborative approach made a tremendous amount of sense as I was weighing my career options," says Gary Brown. "This move will allow me to spearhead our New Brunswick operations while specializing in investment sales, with a clear focus, at a time when the hub city is in such a rapid growth phase. I am looking forward to working with Sean again and teaming up with such knowledgeable associates as Greg Keough and his team, as well as collaborating with my new colleagues across Canada, the U.S. and overseas."
Moncton is located at the hub of the Maritime provinces in Canada. With its strategic geographic position in the centre of the Atlantic Trade Gateway and advanced infrastructure, the Moncton region has become a transportation and distribution hub for road, rail and air cargo. Moncton also continues to see growth in its technology-based sectors while serving as home to many world-class firms in gaming technologies, knowledge industries and advanced manufacturing. The city also boasts one of the most successful back-office clusters in Canada, featuring such leading companies as UPS, FedEx, Purolator Courier, Royal Bank of Canada, Camco and ExxonMobil. Multinational firms are attracted to Moncton because of its low business costs, modern business/industrial parks, rapidly growing airport, three universities and other post-secondary institutions.
Today's announcement comes on the heels of Avison Young opening a new office in Munich, Germany on January 21, 2015.
