Babsocks Teams Up With Molson Coors

From a beer league dressing room to the World Cup of Hockey

TORONTO, Sept. 14, 2016 /CNW/ - Babsocks.ca announced today that it has partnered with Molson Coors Brewing Company to provide hockey fans and beer lovers with a special promotion for the 2016 World Cup of Hockey.

The promotion, which was officially launched on Monday and runs from September 12 to October 8, features a pair of Team Canada Babsocks in 375,000 cases of either Molson Canadian or Coors Light. The red-and-white socks are adorned with the Team Canada logo and the intimidating likeness of its head coach, Mike Babcock.

The socks were inspired by the original Babsocks, a blue and white version that was introduced last October to celebrate the Toronto Maple Leafs finally getting back on the road to greatness with the arrival of Mr. Babcock, inarguably the best coach in hockey.

From the moment they were launched online at www.babsocks.ca, Babsocks became an instant hit with Leafs Nation fans, not only in Toronto, not only in Canada, but throughout the world.

Created by Thomas McCole and Jake Mednick, two diehard Leafs fans from Toronto's east end, the idea for Babsocks surfaced in a dressing room after a beer league hockey game on the same day that Mr. Babcock's hiring was announced.

"We thought this was a fun idea that might unite the Leafs fan base," said Thomas McCole. "We started it as a bit of lark but it took off right away and has been going strong ever since. The global passion of Leafs Nation is a phenomenon and an inspiration."

Jake Mednick says that the partnership between Babsocks and Molson Coors is a natural fit. "We're thrilled to team up with Molson Coors, and we're looking forward to seeing thousands of fans in their Team Canada Babsocks. It's going to be a lot of fun."
