Bank of Spain Approves Santander Acquisition of Carfinco Financial Group Inc.

EDMONTON, Jan. 26, 2015 /CNW/ - Carfinco Financial Group Inc. ("Carfinco") (TSX: CFN) announces today that the Bank of Spain has approved the acquisition of Carfinco by Banco Santander, S.A. (CATS: SAN, NYSE: SAN, BATS-CHIXE: SANE) pursuant to the previously announced plan of arrangement (the "Plan of Arrangement"). Remaining closing conditions to the Plan of Arrangement include the sale of Carfinco's US business. Carfinco continues to work diligently towards completing the sale of Carfinco's US Business and satisfying all other outstanding conditions.  Carfinco remains confident that the Arrangement could be completed within the timelines outlined within the Arrangement Agreement.
