When You Can Be Anything, no dream is too big, no idea is too wild, and no possibility is out of reach. With the greatest goals and most imagined possibilities of determined girls in mind, Barbie encourages families across Canada to share photos of their young Barbie fans living out career ambitions using the hashtag #YouCanBeAnything.
From April 28 to May 2, Canadian girls will take over Facebook and Twitter and show the world just what they can be: anything! Upload a photo of your #YouCanBeAnything girl in her career of choice to the You Can Be Anything event page, share her dreams, and help Barbie shout it out: You Can Be Anything! What's in it for Barbie lovers? Four lucky girls will be selected to live out their dream career for a day in real life.
"Barbie has always aimed to show young girls that they can be anything they can imagine from movie star to doctor. She's always been a role model in being true to herself and making possibilities come to life, and to a child, that's everything," says Akram Sharkawy, Brand Communications Marketing Manager, Mattel Canada Inc. "We want to empower girls across the country to let their imaginations run wild and build confidence in going after their dreams, and letting them know that there is no limit."
Veterinarian for a day: Barbie surprises girls with a once-in-a-lifetime experience
Barbie recently turned four young girls' imaginative play into a real-life experience. Surprise! Barbie gave the girls – all aspiring veterinarians – the chance to live out their dreams at the Toronto Zoo for the day, where they were able to work alongside animal technicians to care for baby beasts, examine the penguins, and experience a day in the life of a trained animal doctor.
The magical moment gave the girls a taste of what it's really like to be a vet and showed them just what it's like to be what they want to be. Relive the excitement and experience here.
In 2015, Barbie launched the "Imagine the Possibilities" spot, kicking off the new brand initiative of You Can Be Anything. The campaign celebrates the brand's heritage and celebrates a young girl's journey of self-discovery, imagination and storytelling.
You Can Be Anything kicks off on April 28. Photo submissions will be accepted on the event page until May 2. Learn more on the Barbie Facebook and Twitter channels and at Barbie.ca. The full lineup of Career Dolls is available in stores now.
