Baycrest appoints Deloitte senior executive Garry M. Foster as new Chair of Baycrest's Board of Directors
TORONTO, Feb. 14, 2012 /CNW/ - Baycrest is pleased to announce the appointment of Deloitte senior executive Garry M. Foster as Chair of the Baycrest Board of Directors.
Mr. Foster joins a global leader in innovations in aging and brain health, with a sterling reputation in the seniors' healthcare field and in cognitive neuroscience. Mr. Foster is delighted to take on this appointment.

Mr. Foster takes over the Chair role from international businessman Dr. Anthony R. Melman, who held the position from 2007 to 2012.
Dr. Melman, Chair and CEO of Nevele Inc., and former senior executive at Onex Corporation, provided skillful stewardship with President and CEO Dr. William Reichman during Baycrest's strategic transformation over the last five years. Under their leadership, the organization has strengthened its role as a partner with provincial and federal levels of government in identifying health system solutions for an aging population, and forged new strategic alliances with industry leaders. Dr. Melman will remain on Baycrest's Board of Directors and will be Chairman of a new corporate entity, Baycrest Global Solutions ("BGS"), that intends to commercialize the intellectual property, assets and technologies of Baycrest with a view to generating future cash flows and value for Baycrest.
Mr. Foster, a Fellow Chartered Accountant and a Member of the Institute of Corporate Directors, has served some of Canada's largest and most prestigious companies. His experience includes advising companies on governance, merger, acquisition and a wide range of financial activities. He is a member of the Board of Directors of both Deloitte Canada and Deloitte U.S.
He has held several volunteer executive roles, including Vice-Chair of the Baycrest Foundation (2011-12); Member of the Board of Trustees for the Baycrest Foundation (2008-2011); Chair of the Board of Governors, Friends of Simon Wiesenthal (2008-2011); President, Jewish Family and Child Services (1994-1996); and Member of Council, Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario (2007-2011). In addition to his new role as Chair of Baycrest's Board, he will continue as a member of the Board of Governors for Mount Sinai Hospital, and Executive Member of the organization Partnership to Assist Youth Employment.
