TORONTO, Feb. 7, 2019 /CNW/ - Baylin Technologies Inc. ("Baylin") (TSX: BYL) today announced that its Kirkland, Quebec wholly owned subsidiary, Advantech Wireless Technologies Inc. ("Advantech") has released a new line of S-Band GaN based 10kW modular high power amplifiers.
Advantech's Solid State Pulsed Amplifiers (SSPA's) are fully modular systems that operate over the band of 2.9 – 3.1 GHz or 2.7 – 2.9 GHz. The new line of GaN based Pulsed Amplifiers is designed to replace up to 2MW Magnetrons with higher reliability and built-in redundancy at a fraction of the cost.
Randy Dewey, President and CEO of Baylin Technologies, explained that "by expanding the pulse width of the RADAR's transmitted signal, the system's detection-range is greatly extended. Prior solutions accomplished this by using higher-power Magnetrons, resulting in considerably greater operating costs and lower reliability compared to solid state products."
Gallium Nitride (GaN) solid state technology is ideally suited for mobile, tactical RADAR applications. Advantech's solid state amplifier designs are based on modular architecture with hot-swappable RF and power supply modules allowing for virtually no downtime.
