BCGEU issues strike notice for August 7
VANCOUVER, Aug. 2, 2012 /CNW/ - The BCGEU has today issued strike notice to the B.C. Labour Relations Board. The strike will take place on Tuesday, August 7, 2012 during operating hours at the following worksites:
Surrey: Ministry of Forests, Lands & Natural Resource Operations, 40 members. 200 - 10428 153rd Street.
Kelowna: Ministry of Labour, Agriculture, Health, Environment, 30 members. 1690 Powick Rd.
Campbell River: Ministry of Forests, Lands & Natural Resource Operations, 50 members. 370 South Dogwood Street.
100 Mile House: Ministry of Forests, Lands & Natural Resource Operations; Ministry of Transportation & Infrastructure, 60 members. 300 S. Caribou Highway.
This will be our second job action this summer in support of our proposals for a new contract with the B.C. Government. On July 3, BCGEU members picketed three Liquor Distribution Branch sites in Vancouver, Victoria and Kamloops.
BCGEU President Darryl Walker will be available for media interviews TODAY at the Vancouver Art Gallery - north side at 11:45 am, where sheriffs from downtown courthouses will be rallying in support of the union's proposal to use sheriffs in traffic safety & enforcement.
