MONTREAL, Feb. 6, 2013 /CNW Telbec/ - The Business Development Bank of Canada is proud to announce that it has been named one of Montreal's Top Employers for 2013 by Mediacorp Canada Inc. and the editors of Canada's Top 100 Employers. BDC is headquartered in Montreal and has offices in over 100 cities across Canada.
This is the fifth time BDC has received this prestigious distinction, which arrives on the heels of its recent recognition as one of Canada's Top 100 Employers for 2013. Now in its eighth year, Montréal's Top Employers is an annual competition that acknowledges the contribution of leading local employers with exceptional workplace environments.
"We are proud to have been headquartered in Montreal for the past 68 years," says Mary Karamanos, Senior Vice-President Human Resources at BDC. "BDC has consistently invested in its people practices, responding to the need for new emerging workplace models and engaged talent to fulfill our mandate. We aim to create the best workplace we can by offering our employees a stimulating work environment, flexibility in how they work and the opportunity for growth and development. An engaged team of people enables us to bring value to Canadian entrepreneurs."
Employers apply for the Montréal's Top Employers competition through Canada's Top 100 Employers application process and are judged on the basis of eight criteria, including training and skills development, employee communications, performance management and community involvement.
Mediacorp Canada Inc. reviewed the recruitment histories of more than 75,000 organizations and invited over 15,000 of the fastest-growing employers to apply. 5,000 additional companies and organizations in industries that Mediacorp wanted to examine more closely were also invited. BDC was selected from a group of over 3,250 companies that started this year's application process.
