BDC named one of the best employers for Canadians over 40 as well as one of Montreal's Top Employers Français
MONTREAL, April 20, 2017 /CNW Telbec/ - For the sixth consecutive year, the Business Development Bank of Canada (BDC) was recognized as one of the best workplaces for Canadians over 40. BDC also held its title of Montreal's Top Employers for an eleventh year. The two awards were presented by Canada's Top 100 Employers.
Among this year's winners, BDC was acknowledged as a leading organization for offering special programs and benefits to experienced employees. "We are honoured to be recognized as a forward-thinking employer that attracts and retains skilled and qualified talent," says Mary Karamanos, Senior Vice President, Human Resources at BDC.
Competition for a top position grew considerably this year as the number of winners was set to 10, instead of the usual 15. Organizations were evaluated against eight criteria, including recruitment and on boarding of new workers aged 40 years or older, coaching and mentorship, succession planning, and assistance with phase-in retirement.
"At BDC, we primarily look for candidates who bring the right set of skills and expertise to our business. In the past year alone, 37% of our new hires were established professionals over 40. They bring broad knowledge and diversity to our teams and each contributes to making BDC a successful organization," concludes Mary Karamanos.
BDC was also voted one of Montreal's Top Employers for its leadership position in its industry and its progressive work model offering an exceptional workplace, a stimulating work environment as well as opportunity for growth and development, among others.
BDC is also one of Canada's Top 100 Employers (2017). Canada's Top Employers for Canadians Over 40 winners were announced this morning in a special feature published in The Globe and Mail and on Eluta.ca. This year's Montreal's Top Employers were revealed in a special magazine published by The Gazette.
