Ten items to pack in your emergency kit
THORNHILL, ON, Nov. 12, 2014 /CNW/ - Before the mercury takes a nose dive and heaping snowbanks return this year, CAA South Central Ontario (CAA SCO) is reminding drivers to make sure their car is ready with this pre-winter checklist.
Here's what you should do before the first snowfall:
- Test your battery to make sure it is winter ready.
- Have your brakes checked or serviced.
- Install a set of four winter tires for better traction.
- Check your lights to ensure they are working properly.
- Replace your windshield wipers if they are streaking or rusting.
Keep the following items in your vehicle:
- Ice scraper
- Snow brush
- Shovel
- Windshield washer fluid
- Booster cables
- Flashlight and extra batteries
- Blankets
- Extra clothing and footwear
- First aid kit
- Phone charger
Unexpected weather or car trouble can happen when you least expect it. When it does, members can track their roadside service requests using CAA Service Tracker. Download the CAA app or visit caasco.com to enable CAA Service Tracker when you need it.
