TORONTO, March 18, 2014 /CNW/ - This March, Toronto Police Service, Canada's largest municipal police force, will be tackling INSANITY®, the toughest workout ever put on DVD, and competing for the most insane team results in the Toronto Police INSANITY® Challenge.
Sponsored by Beachbody and the Toronto Police Amateur Athletic Association (TPAAA), the 60 day challenge runs from March 17 - May 19. Working out as teams, police officers must complete five Fit Tests and 52 workouts over 60 days. The INSANITY® workouts are a combination of plyometric drills and nonstop intervals of strength, power, resistance, ab and core training moves. Beachbody will assign an INSANITY® certified coach to each team to ensure they are working out safe and getting the best results.
"Police officers are called upon to make life threatening and saving decisions instantly," says Mike Bagg, General Manager of the TPAAA. "Body and mind need to be on the same page and the Insanity Challenge will help with the physical and mental well being of our members."
Beachbody will award three grand prizes for Most Weight Lost, Best Fit Test Results and Best Individual Transformation. The winning teams will win a Beachbody gym for their station including a collection of Beachbody fitness programs, like P90X®, Focus T25®, and Insanity: The Asylum®, and an entertainment system.
"We want to give back by providing police officers with the tools and motivation to get in insane shape and combat the stress and health risks that come with the job," says Andro Barac, Vice President, Beachbody International. "It's called Insanity for a reason - the officers have their work cut out for them, but it's a lot of fun."
As part of this challenge Beachbody will be raising funds for the Toronto Police Widows and Orphans Fund.
