Beck Taxi Announces New Custom Digital Dispatch Software and Consumer App for Android and iOS
TORONTO, March 11, 2015 /CNW/ - Canada's leading family-owned and operated award-winning taxi fleet, Beck Taxi, announced today the launch of their innovative new digital dispatch system which includes a consumer mobile application to be released in the coming weeks. This new custom developed system signals a significant move towards digitization for the Toronto taxi leader.
Riders will now start to see tablets in every Beck Taxi and drivers will receive orders via the tablets – among other exciting new features. The new digital system will accompany the existing radio that will remain present in the cars for safety and accountability and is part of Beck Taxi's DNA. However, all orders will now be dispatched to the tablets reducing the amount of radio chatter riders will hear.
"It is important that this new system help improve the driver and rider experience while keeping our drivers connected to Beck, and Beck connected to our drivers," said Kristine Hubbard, Operations Manager, Beck Taxi. "We will continue to use traditional radio dispatch and amplify existing systems with new digital technologies, as we have always done."
The system incorporates GPS and is completely safe and legal under the Ontario Ministry of Transportation's Distracted Driving laws. It was developed with Beck Taxi's strong commitment to the safety and security of its drivers and passengers in mind.
In addition to the new custom dispatch software, Beck Taxi is in the final stages of development of its new consumer app which will include many new features including in-app payment to mitigate lengthy transactions times between the Beck Taxi customer and driver. Built for both iOS and Android, the new application will provide outstanding benefits to the consumer and adds extra value to the city, reducing traffic congestion and taxi cab idling.
"The demand for Beck Taxi is constantly growing and we need to move forward with digital applications to effectively manage demand and maintain our premium level of service," said Hubbard. "With this new, complete system including brand new mobile apps, our drivers and customers will ride happier and with greater convenience. We look forward to providing more news and features on the consumer app shortly."
The custom dispatch system and consumer app were conceptualized by Beck Taxi and executed by Haddon Strategy, a Toronto-based technology and consulting firm, and developed by Cloud Sherpas, a provider of cloud advisory and technology services.
