Bell's HSPA+ network to go live in l'Anse-Saint-Jean
L'ANSE-SAINT-JEAN, QC, Nov. 30 /CNW Telbec/ - Bell announced today that the very first HSPA+ (High Speed Packet Access) wireless broadband digital network deployment site in the Fjord sector of the Fjord-du-Saguenay RCM, will be operational in l'Anse-Saint-Jean on December 10th 2010.
"Bell Mobility's HSPA+ network in L'Anse-St-Jean will offer clients access to high-speed Internet and cutting-edge wireless voice and data transmission services, including access to the world's fastest wireless broadband," explained Mary-Ann Bell, Senior Vice-President, Québec and Ontario, Bell Aliant.
The project was launched last April by the AIDE-TIC (Agence interrégionale de développement des technologies de l'information et des communications), an organization created by the Société d'aide au développement des collectivités du Fjord, and carried out in collaboration with Bell Mobility.
The tower, located in the municipality, and the repeater on Mont Édouard, will enable cellular telephone and high-speed Internet access in L'Anse Saint-Jean and the surrounding areas along Route 170 up to the Mont Édouard ski centre.
The Bell Store in La Baie will open a special branch for the launch in L'Anse-Saint-Jean at the Auberge St-Édouard on December 10th, 11th, 17h and 18th, in order to provide a convenient service to customers. The store hours will be on Fridays from 1:00PM to 9:00PM and on Saturdays from 9:00AM to 4:00PM.
Six additional sites will be launched progressively in the coming weeks. The entire project will be completed by fall 2011, giving the following municipalities access to the network: Bégin, Saint-Honoré, Ferland-et-Boileau, Sainte-Rose-du-Nord, Baie-Éternité, Rivière-Éternité, Petit-Saguenay, Sacré-Cœur, Les Bergeronnes, Les Escoumins and Longue-Rive.
