Benjamin Mauroy-Langlais to compete against 20 global contenders in race to win S.Pellegrino Young Chef 2018
TORONTO, Oct. 3, 2017 /CNW/ - Following outstanding performances by Canada's ten semi-finalists from coast-to-coast, chef Benjamin Mauroy-Langlais wins the coveted title of Canada's best young chef with his signature dish: Smoked eel, celeriac (spring in Kamouraska). Benjamin Mauroy-Langlais earns the opportunity to compete against 20 of the world's top chefs for the S.Pellegrino Young Chef 2018 title in Milan in June 2018.
Benjamin Mauroy-Langlais was among ten semi-finalists chosen to compete before a jury of industry heavy weights including - Anthony Walsh (Oliver & Bonacini Restaurants, Toronto, ON), Joël Watanabe (Kissa Tanto and Bao Bei, Vancouver, BC), Todd Perrin (Mallard Cottage, St. John's, NF), Riccardo Bertolino (Maison Boulud, Montreal, QC) and Jen Agg (Grey Gardens, The Black Hoof, Cocktail Bar, Rhum Corner, Toronto, ON and Agrikol, Montreal QC) – who evaluated signature dishes of each semi-finalist based on the five "Golden Rules": ingredients, skills, genius, beauty and message.
