TORONTO, July 20, 2016 /CNW/ - Sadly, for lifelong best friends, Anne and Tanya, the race ended in Ho Chi Minh City. Despite departing last from the Pit Start in Cái Bèi, the pair gave it their all in tonight's episode of THE AMAZING RACE CANADA, and caught up to the other teams. They fought through traffic, extreme heat, and ate a plate full of creepy crawlies to stay in the race, but in the end the single moms had to say goodbye. The Woodbridge, Ont. natives became the third team eliminated from THE AMAZING RACE CANADA at the Pit Stop located at City Hall in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
"I did this with my best friend of 36 years – who I tried to beat up in junior kindergarten," said Tanya, reflecting on her friendship with teammate. Anne added, "We're super proud and I know our families will be really proud of us." Showing their consistently positive attitude, they went on to say, "It's bittersweet – we get to see our kids – which we're super excited about."

Episode 404 Recap
From the Pit Start in the Mekong Delta, Vietnam, the remaining eight teams travelled 100 kilometres by bus from Cái Bè to the cosmopolitan streets of Ho Chi Minh City. There, Racers took part in a ceremonial practice, believed to bring good karma, where each teammate had to find and release a cage of birds. Teams Steph and Kristen, Joel and Ashley, and Kelly and Kate all finished quickly, with the rest trailing behind.
At the Road Block, using instructions written in Vietnamese, one member from each team channeled their inner mechanic to reassemble a scooter in order to receive their next clue. Joel and Ashley kept their lead thanks to Joel's skills as an auto mechanic, but the other teams weren't far behind.
Teams then located a popular restaurant where they had to eat Vietnamese delicacies; fried crickets, centipedes, worms, and a bat. Additionally, each Racer had to eat one live and juicy coconut worm to receive their next clue. Joel calmly encouraged a panicked Ashley as they ate their meal together, and Frankie helped herself to the entire plate to spare Amy, a vegetarian. Amy took one for the team and swallowed her coconut worm to complete the challenge.
At the Detour, teams chose between Flip Flop and V-Pop. In Flip Flop, teams had to perform a routine of flair bartending techniques while creating a signature cocktail. In V-Pop, teams had to use a phonetic guide to learn how to properly pronounce, memorize, and each sing a verse of a Vietnamese song. After a few failed attempts at singing the V-Pop hit, Jillian and Emmett chose to switch challenges, while Kelly and Kate succeeded on their first try. A major turning point in the leg, the girls used their Chinese background to their advantage by translating all the words to Chinese characters, making the song easier for them to memorize and pronounce. Flip Flop also proved to be difficult and time-consuming for Jillian and Emmett to complete. The pair had to perform the routine 63 times before they received their clue, allowing many teams to pass them. Anne and Tanya were close behind and succeeded after their 19th try.
Teams then proceeded to the downtown core and located City Hall to find Jon at the Pit Stop. Kelly and Kate arrived first, winning a trip for two to Los Angeles with five nights' accommodation provided by Hotels.com. Steph and Kristen had to give their extra Express Pass to another team by the end of this leg, and chose to give it to Frankie and Amy. Though Anne and Tanya finished each task and caught up to the other teams, they were the last team to arrive at the Pit Stop and were eliminated from the race.
