Better-quality trails for an enhanced snowmobiling and cross-country skiing experience in the Laurentians Français
The Government of Canada grants a total of nearly $1.2 million in financial assistance to six snowmobile clubs and three organizations responsible for cross-country ski trails

Six snowmobile clubs and three organizations responsible for cross-country ski trails share the maintenance of, respectively, more than 1,100 kilometres of snowmobile trails and nearly 100 kilometres of cross-country ski trails in the Laurentians region. To improve the quality of the trails and continue ensuring the safety of the winter recreationalists who use them, these organizations will receive a total of $1,161,077 in non‑repayable contributions from Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions (CED).
With that funding, the snowmobile clubs and cross-country ski organizations will be able to purchase powerful equipment that will enable them to properly maintain the trails, while generating savings in operating costs. Lastly, carrying out the various projects will generate economic benefits and contribute to the vitality of the communities during the winter period.
The funding granted to the various organizations was announced by David Graham, Member of Parliament for Laurentides–Labelle, on behalf of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for CED, as part of a tour that ended today in Val-David.
The recipient organizations are:
- Club de moto-neige Piteman;
- Club de motoneige l'Aiglon de Chute St-Philippe;
- Club Auto-neige Blizard;
- Club de moto-neige Sultans Mont-Laurier, St-Jean, Val-Limoges inc.;
- Club de motoneige Diable et Rouge;
- Club Sportif Les Franc-Nord Macaziens inc.;
- Parc régional Montagne du Diable;
- Société du parc régional Val-David–Val-Morin (Far Hills sector); and
- Municipalité du village de Val-David.
The funding was awarded under the Winter Tourism Initiative of CED's Quebec Economic Development Program. This initiative supports the purchase of equipment for maintaining snowmobile trails or cross-country ski trails. With a budget of $10 million and in force until March 31, 2020, it aims to increase the regional benefits generated by tourists from outside Quebec.
The Government of Canada does not hesitate to support recreational, cultural or sports-related projects that have a positive impact on local tourism and the local economy, that further showcase the unique attractions around us and that resonate far beyond the Laurentians.

Six snowmobile clubs and three organizations responsible for cross-country ski trails each share the maintenance of over 1,100 kilometres of snowmobile trails and close to 100 kilometres of cross-country ski trails in the Laurentian region. To upgrade the quality of the trails and continue to ensure the safety of winter activity enthusiasts who use them, these organizations will receive non-repayable contributions totaling $1,161,077 from Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions (CED).
This financial assistance will allow snowmobile clubs and cross-country ski organizations to purchase high-performance equipment for proper trail maintenance, while generating savings on operational costs. Lastly, the implementation of different projects will lead to economic benefits and contribute to the vitality of communities in winter.

Club de motoneiges Diable et Rouge is a non-profit organization (NPO) that was incorporated in 1969 and member of the Fédération des clubs de motoneigistes du Québec (FCMQ) [Quebec Federation of Snowmobile Clubs]. It owns three groomers and maintains 158 km of trails, including 68 km of Trans-Québec trails and 22.7 km of transregional trails.
The Club has 375 members from Quebec, Ontario and the United States and relies on the involvement of its members, thirteen volunteers and three qualified employees who are in charge of trail maintenance and safety. |

The Club owns four groomers and maintains 341 km of trails over a land area of over 5,500 square kilometres, including 227.4 kilometres of Trans-Québec trails and 49.4 km of transregional trails. These trails connect the Laurentians, Lanaudière and Mauricie regions. Club l'Aiglon has 408 members from Quebec, Ontario and the United States. It relies on the involvement of its members, twelve volunteers and four qualified employees who are in charge of the maintenance and safety of the 341 kilometres of trails. |

Parc régional Montagne du Diable

Non-refundable contribution of $94,454 out of a total investment of $157,423 The project is aimed at enhancing winter tourism in the Upper Laurentians, by improving cross-country ski trails at Parc regional Montagne du Diable, notably through the acquisition of a tractor, tracks, brushcutter and leveling equipment. By ensuring optimal trail maintenance, these pieces of equipment will contribute to customer growth, help maintain the quality of the tourism offering to attract more tourists from outside Quebec, and stimulate economic benefits.
Founded in 2009, Parc régional Montagne du Diable (PRMD) is the NPO responsible for the development and management of the parc régional de la montagne du Diable, in the Upper Laurentians. Open year-round, this nature park is recognized for its winter tourism offering, with over 180 km of integrated trails – including 40 km of cross-country ski trails. In 2016, the Parc drew close to 36,000 visitors, 21% of whom came from outside the Antoine-Labelle RCM. In 2017, the Parc employed 11 people and its activities generated revenues of over $600,000. |

Non-refundable contribution of $14,220 out of a total investment of $23,700 The project is aimed at providing for the quality and sustainability of the cross-country ski trails of Parc régional de Val-David–Val-Morin (Dufresne Sector) maintained by Municipalité du village de Val-David, through the acquisition of surfacing equipment for the mechanical maintenance of trails (snowmobile and roller compactor).
Since 2003, Municipalité du village de Val-David has been responsible for the development and management of the Dufresne Sector, one of two sectors adjacent to Parc regional de Val-David–Val-Morin, in the Laurentians. Open year-round, the 600-hectare Parc is recognized for its winter activities, with its 53 km of cross-country ski trails, over half of which are maintained by the Municipalité. To pursue its activities, Parc régional de Val-David–Val-Morin (Dufresne Sector) relies on the involvement of its members and eight qualified employees who provide for its maintenance, customer service and trail safety requirements. |
