BICSI - The Global Association Supporting the ICT Community - Announces Strategic Plans for Middle East and Africa Region
In Conjunction with GITEX Technology Week, BICSI Opens Regional Office in Dubai
DUBAI, United Arab Emirates, Oct. 18, 2016 /CNW/ -- BICSI, the association advancing the information and communications technology (ICT) community, affirmed its plans to support Middle East and Africa (MEA) District at the official opening of its new office at the Sheikh Rashid Tower, Dubai World Trade Centre.
According to the latest forecast by Gartner, Middle East ICT spending is projected to reach almost US$213 billion in 2016. With the rapid growth and expansion of ICT projects and needs in the Middle East and Africa area, Dubai has been identified as a prime spot to assist ICT professionals.
Headquartered in Tampa, Florida, USA, BICSI membership spans nearly 100 countries serving nearly 23,000 ICT professionals. BICSI membership in the MEA District has been steadily climbing and is nearing 400 members.
Present at the offices grand opening were several members of the ICT community, in addition to BICSI management including Brian Ensign, RCDD, NTS, OSP, RTPM, CSI; BICSI President, John D. Clark Jr., CAE, BICSI Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer; and Paul Weintraub, RCDD, ESS, RTPM, TECH, BICSI Vice President of Global Development and Support.
"Opening this office in Dubai marks a great milestone in our strategy to support the MEA District," said BICSI President Ensign. "We will continue to focus our efforts on MEA and Dubai specifically to meet the ever-increasing needs of the ICT community."
The UAE is pioneering initiatives for developing technical advancements in key economic sectors, including in ICT. Opening a BICSI office in Dubai will give ICT professionals in the area increased access to BICSI's best practices-based education, publications, credentialing programs and networking opportunities.
The office's grand opening occurred in conjunction with the 36th GITEX Technology Week in Dubai. GITEX is one of the largest tech events in the world, bringing more than 100,000 ICT professionals to the Dubai World Trade Center for the week. BICSI representatives were present at the event, as well, speaking with delegates about what BICSI is and how it can help them learn, grow and enhance their careers.
