VANCOUVER, Feb. 28 /CNW/ - Moments before the Vancouver 2010 Closing Ceremony is broadcast to millions across the country, a stirring new bilingual video of I Believe / J'imagine will premiere, featuring both Annie Villeneuve and Nikki Yanofsky. The official theme song of Canada's Olympic Broadcast Media Consortium, the bilingual I Believe / J'imagine video premieres at approximately 5:20 p.m. PT / 8:20 p.m. ET on CTV, TSN, Rogers Sportsnet, OLN, NTV, V/CPAC, RDS, RIS Info Sports, OMNI.1, OMNI.2, OMNI AB, OMNI BC, and APTN. The video will be available immediately on demand on CTVOlympics.ca, RDSolympiques.ca.
The inspiring performance brings together on television for the first time Quebec pop star Annie Villeneuve, the voice behind J'Imagine, and 16-year-old singing sensation Nikki Yanofsky, who sings I Believe. Accompanied by composer Stephan Moccio on piano, the two artists both perform in Canada's two official languages, seamlessly sharing French and English verses.
Still No. 1 on the iTunes Canada Top Songs chart, I Believe also hit the top of the Canadian Billboard Hot 100, marking the first time a Canadian artist has reached No. 1 since Avril Lavigne's Girlfriend in March and April 2007. J'imagine has also become a hit No. 1 song on Quebec radio.
The words and music for I Believe were written by Glass Tiger front man Alan Frew and Moccio, evolving out of Canada's Olympic Broadcast Media Consortium's theme music. I Believe and J'imagine are available for download on CTVOlympics.ca/music and RDSolympiques.ca/musique. The EP, distributed by Universal Music Canada, is currently available in stores and contains three versions of the song: I Believe, J'imagine and the instrumental track, as well as behind-the-scenes footage of the music/recordings in the making.
