TORONTO, March 22, 2018 /CNW/ - Last night, Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport was named one of North America's best airports at the Skytrax World Airport Awards, which are voted on by air travellers in the largest annual global airport customer satisfaction survey. Billy Bishop Airport was ranked the tenth best regional airport in North America, and also ranked the tenth best airport globally in the under 5 million passenger category.
The 2018 Awards are based on 13.7 million airport survey questionnaires completed by over 100 different nationalities of air travellers, covering 550 airports worldwide. In the independent survey, passengers continue to rank Billy Bishop Airport highly across 39 key performance indicators, including fast check-in times, ease of access to the terminal, and the courtesy and efficiency of airport staff. This is the fifth consecutive year that Billy Bishop Airport has won a prestigious Skytrax award.
"It is an incredible honour to be named one of North America's best airports as well as one of the top airports globally by the Skytrax World Airport Awards," said Geoffrey Wilson, CEO of PortsToronto, owner and operator of Billy Bishop Airport. "The overwhelmingly positive response in these impartial passenger-driven surveys speaks to the exceptional work and commitment to excellence in customer service demonstrated by our employees and stakeholders. Billy Bishop Airport provides a unique passenger experience with amenities such as complimentary shuttle service, full-service lounges, shorter lines, and proximity to downtown—all of which helps make us a world-class facility that drives business, facilitates tourism, and serves as an important gateway to the world-class city of Toronto."
The Skytrax awards is the latest in a series of passenger-driven awards received by Billy Bishop Airport. On March 6, 2018, the airport was named Best Airport in North America in the Airports Council International's (ACI) 2017 Airport Service Quality Awards. In 2017, the airport also ranked sixth in a Top 10 list of global airports by Condé Nast Traveler Readers' Choice Awards and as one of the Top Ten Most Beautiful Airport Approaches by Private Fly.
